Whether it’s a brunch or breakfast these recipes will cheer you up. Here are some recipes of breakfast with a twist:
Omelette and bread is a typical breakfast. But if you add some twist with it, that would be much better. Spanish omelette is actually called tortilla de patatas. It is a popular dish in Spanish cuisine made with eggs, onions and potatos and it is very easy to make. It will be perfect for a brunch.
3 large potatoes
1 cup olive oil
1 tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
¼ cup cheese
Parsley for garnishing
1.Peel the potatoes, onions and cut them into thin slices.
2.Fry the potatoes and onions with some salt in low flame until it is crispy and golden.
3.Meanwhile, beat the eggs with salt, pepper in a mixing bowl.
4.When the potatoes and onions are properly cooked remove them from the pan and drain the oil.
5.Put the potatoes and onions into the egg mixture. Add some cheese and mix it well.
6.Heat the oil in a frying pan. Pour the mixture into the frying pan.
7.When one side is done, gently flip it over and cook the other side until it is golden.
8.Remove the tortilla from the pan and sprinkle some parsley on the top.
9.Serve it with any cheese dip you like.
Apple stuffed French toast rolls
French toast is a common breakfast. But have you ever tried it with apples? It is way better than typical french toasts.
For French toast rolls:
8-10 bread slices
2 tbsp milk
1 tbsp butter
2 cup bread-crumbs
Salt to taste
2 medium sized apples
½ tsp cinnamon powder
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tbsp sugar
1.First peel the apples and cut them into small pieces.
2.Put the apples in a pan and add lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon powder. Cook over 3-4 minutes.
3.After it is done, put the stuff in a separate bowl.
French toast rolls:
1.Take the bread slices and smear cream cheese on one side of the bread.
2.Put the apple stuff on the bread and roll it up.
3.In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with milk and salt.
4.Melt the butter in a frying pan. Dip the roll ups in the egg mixture and cover it up with bread crumbs.
5.Fry the roll ups until it is golden and serve it with maple syrup.
Pancake is our all time favourite breakfast item. Be ready for some twists.
1 ½ cups flour
3 tbsp sugar
Salt to taste
1 cup milk
1 tbsp baking powder
2 tsp lemon zest (grated)
½ stick melted butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 cup cheese
Strawberries (for garnishing)
1.Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl.
2.Whisk eggs, milk, butter, vanilla extract, lemon zests and cheese in a separate bowl. Pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture. Mix it well and leave it for 20 minutes covered with a plastic wrap.
3.Pour 1 ladle of batter in a hot buttered skillet and cook in low flame until both sides become golden.
4.Enjoy the pancakes with strawberries and honey on the top.
Dosa is a very popular south indian dish. There are various types of dosas available like masala dosa, vegetable dosa, plain dosa etc. Cheese adds an extra flavour in it. All the cheese lovers in world, put this recipe in your list. It is an ideal brunch.
1 cup white lentils (soaked for 6 hours)
2.5 cups rice (soaked for 6 hours)
4 tbsp grated cheese (as needed)
1 onion (chopped)
4 tbsp olive oil
3 green chillies (chopped)
1 red & yellow bell pepper (chopped)
1 potato (chopped)
1 tomato (chopped)
½ tsp ginger-garlic paste
Salt to taste
Pinch of sugar
A bunch of coriander leaves
1.Grind rice and lentils to a smooth batter. It should maintain a consistency. Add some salt in it and leave it covered for 5 hours.
2.In the meantime, heat the oil in a pan and sauté bell peppers, onion, green chillies, potato, tomato with salt, sugar and ginger-garlic paste.
3.Grease a skillet and pour 1 ladle of dosa batter and spread it in a circular motion. Add the sautéed mixture over the dosa and some oil around the edges. Spread the grated cheese on the top and cook until the other side is golden.
4.Fold it over and sprinkle the coriander leaves on the top.
5.Serve it with coconut sauce(chutney).(Coconut sauce is a fine paste of grated coconut, poppy seeds, red chilli powder, salt and sugar.)
Croque madame is the French version of ham and cheese sandwich. It is delicious and a well-known French breakfast and very different from a regular sandwich.
3 tbsp flour
6 tbsp unsalted butter
2 cups milk
Salt and black pepper to taste
½ tsp nutmeg
4 tsp Dijon mustard
½ cup parmesan cheese (grated)
1 ½ cup Gruyere cheese (grated)
8 slices white bread
10 thinly sliced ham
1.For béchamel sauce, melt 3tbsp of butter in a saucepan and whisk in flour for 2 minutes in medium heat. Add milk, parmesan cheese, ½ cup Gruyere cheese, salt, pepper, nutmeg and stir constantly until the cheese is fully melted. Make sure the sauce maintains a consistency, it should be slightly thickened.
2.Take 4 slices of bread and pour 1tbsp of béchamel sauce on top of each sandwich. Then, spread mustard and top with ham slices and broil until the cheese gets melted.
3.Once it is done, fry the eggs with salt and pepper until the white portion is cooked properly but the yolks are still runny.
4.Top the remaining bread slices and pour 2tbsp of béchamel sauce on the top of each sandwich.
5.Place the eggs on top of the sandwich and serve.
