In the previous article, we discussed about Bengali restaurants in Kolkata. We suggested some restaurants where you can get traditional Bengali meals. But any meal is imperfect without dessert. In Bengali culture, our meal is incomplete without ‘mishti’(sweets). Fusion is a new trend in our lifestyle. We are experimenting in every field in our life, so why not food? There are so many great sweet shops in Kolkata and some of them are experimenting with bengalees’ favourite food item which is ‘mishti’. Outside of misti doi and rosogolla they are making sweets with some twists. Here are some famous sweet shops in Kolkata whose sweets are amazing and you must try:

1. Balaram Mullick & Radharaman Mullick

Balaram Mullick & Radharaman Mullick was awarded ‘Best Mithai Shop’ by Times Of India in 2012. They are the worthy of this title. They are giving us fusion items like Bluberry Doi, Baked Mihidana, Baked Rosogolla, Chocolava Sandesh as well as traditional sweets. Balaram Mullick & Radharaman Mullick was the Winner of ‘Cadbury Mishti Shera Shrishti 2012’.

2. Girish Chandra Dey & Nakur Chandra Nandy

I think all of us have heard about Girish Chandra Dey & Nakur Chandra Nandy. They are the most famous sweet shop in north Kolkata since 1844. From Bollywood stars to cricketers everyone has tasted their delicious sweets. They sell various types of sweets like Chocolate Singara, Chocolate Black Forest, Mango Monohora, Gurer Sandwich and many more.

Must try: Chocolate Singara, Jalbhara, Malai Roll

3. Nalin Chandra Das & sons

Nalin Chandra Das & sons is one of the top five sweet shops in Kolkata. They are providing excellent sweets over 175 years. They were the Winner of ‘Cadbury Mishti Shera Shrishti 2014’.

Must try: Gur Scotch, Choco Rice Ball, Black Current

4. Bhim Chandra Nag

Bhim Chandra Nag is one of the most reknowned sweet shops in Kolkata. It is established by Paran Chandra Nag in 1826. Bengalees’ favourite sweet ladikeni was invented by them. Ladikeni was named after British governor Lord Canning’s wife Lady Canning. They make variety of sweets like jolbhara, dilkhush, abar khabo. Apart from traditional sweets, they also have chocolate and mango flavoured sweets.

Must try : Alphonso Sandesh, Ice Cream Sandesh, Mango Doi

5. Felu modak

Felu modak has to be in the list. They are serving us tasteful sweets over 160 years. Their most famous item is Jolbhara sandesh.

Must try : Jolbhora Sandesh, Chocolate sandesh

6. K.C. Das

Whenever we think about rosogolla, the first name comes to our mind is K.C. Das. K.C. Das is famous for making rosogolla. Other than rosogolla, they make Khirmohan, Keshar Rajbhog, Chhanar Payes, Gulabjamun and many more.

Must try: Khirmohan, Gulabjamun

7. Bancharam

Bancharam is also inventing new kind of sweets. Their best item is baked mihidana tart.

Must try:  Baked Sandesh, flavoured Doi, Mango Golapkhas, Chocolate Charu

8. Ganguram

Must try: Nolen Gurer Jalbhara Sandesh

9. Chittaranjan Mistanna Bhandar

Must try : Rosogolla
